Concepts & Sketching

Jun, 11, 2020

Initially, I sketched out the design by hand and improved the design based on design principles. I learned that users want to avoid pressure by strict deadlines; my initial concept was gamification.

Once the completion of research synthesis, I freely sketched 16 screens on papers by using the Crazy-8s method to diverge my ideas. I evaluated the sketches, followed by creating a low-fidelity digital prototype with 3 key features extracted from the discovery phase. It included displaying goals & achievements, selecting goal-related photos & quotes, and generating suggestions to reach users' goals.

To explore and validate my direction on what this service will look like, I developed a usability study guide, ran the study. Then, I analyzed users' misunderstandings, pains, frustrations, delights, and ideas through a journey map. It revealed that the design included UI elements that make users confused, so I refined my prototype by reflecting the study findings.
